Big Talk, Little Follow-Through🃏
“Discipline is choosing between what you want now and what you want most.” — Abraham Lincoln
“Take a moment to think about your routines. Those little rituals that eat up your time. Do they match the life you say you want? Or are they quietly pulling you in another direction? Be brutally honest with yourself.”
I once knew a guy who kept saying he wanted to get fit. He bought expensive gym gear and spoke proudly of his plan to exercise each day.
Yet his real ritual was scrolling on his phone for hours every night, caught in a loop of funny memes and late-night snacking. He’d wake up tired, skip his workout, and repeat the cycle.
That phone habit wasn’t evil.
It simply nudged him away from his stated dream. The big talk didn’t line up with his daily behavior. He had to face that mismatch before real change could occur.
Mark down your daily routines today.
Write down every block of time, even the ones you brush off as “no big deal.”
Then ask yourself…
If someone else saw this list, would they see your stated goals written in your actions?
If not, pick one small part of your routine and swap it for something that moves you toward where you claim you want to be.
