I used to tell people I was grateful,
grateful for the sleepless nights,
for the way my stomach tightened
before every meeting
where I shrank myself to fit the room.
I called it perspective,
but it was just a shield
so no one would see
how much it hurt
to keep pretending
the cuts were blessings.
Somewhere along the way
I confused silence with strength.
There was a phase in my life when I thought “good vibes only” was the ultimate goal.
I lit candles, said affirmations, sipped turmeric tea, and posted sunlit quotes about choosing happiness.
But inside, I was rotting.
Grief covered with gratitude.
Anger masked with compassion.
Fear spiritualized into “just a vibration.”
"Toxic positivity isn't spirituality; it's emotional dishonesty."
But pain doesn’t disappear because you dressed it up in a white robe.
It gets louder.
And sneakier.
You can't shame your sadness into healing.
You can't meditate your way around betrayal.
You can't fix a broken heart by pretending it’s not bleeding.
