Truth Doesn’t Yell. Ego Does. 🤐
"The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are." — Carl Jung
"The voice inside you knows truths your ego would never dare admit."
Back when I was clawing my way out of rock bottom, there was this stretch… maybe six months, maybe a lifetime… where I kept pretending I was fine.
Not good. Not thriving. Just… fine.
I said what I thought I should say. Posted what made me look stable. Smiled when it felt fake. Told people I was “figuring things out” when really, I was unraveling like a cheap sweater caught on a nail.
And every night, right before sleep, that quiet voice inside, the one of my shadow, would clear its throat.
Not to scold. Just to be heard.
"You’re lying to yourself," it would say.
Soft. Direct. Non-negotiable.
But my ego… It’d jump in immediately like some uninvited lawyer at a trial. "No, you're doing what you need to. You're staying strong. Don’t show weakness."
That internal shadow voice never shouted.
Never tried to win.
Just kept speaking truth. Calm. Clear. Waiting for me to be done pretending.
The moment I stopped defending my image, when I finally listened, I broke. And in that breaking, I found something weirdly strong.
Honesty. Unfiltered. Ugly. Real.
And far better than whatever script my ego was trying to sell.
Tonight. Sit in silence.
No phone. No noise.
Just you and the weight of your thoughts.
Then Ask:
“What truth have I been avoiding because it threatens the version of me I’ve been trying to protect?”
Write it down. No filters. No edits.
Let that voice speak without interruption. And this time, don’t hand the mic to your ego the second it gets uncomfortable.
"The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are." — Carl Jung
The price of that privilege? Letting go of the version you built to please the audience.
Have you ever caught yourself avoiding a hard truth because it didn’t fit your “story”?
Or maybe you’re in the thick of that tug-of-war right now. Your ego arguing. Your inner voice patiently waiting.
Tell me what you’re noticing. No grand performance required. Just real talk. The kind of talk that actually moves the needle.
Let’s go there… together.
Your ego isn’t evil. It’s just scared.
Scared of rejection. Of loss. Of crumbling before others.
That voice underneath is not here to hurt you. It’s here to remind you what’s real. And reality, when faced with open eyes, becomes something you can actually work with.
Even if it breaks you first. Even if it means starting from zero. Even if it costs you the lie you’ve wrapped around your identity like armor.
The truth won’t always feel good. But it will feel solid.
And that’s where real self-respect begins.
